For Alexis

A Letter To My Unborn Child, Alexis Danielle
Dear Alexis,
I have yet to have the opportunity to meet you. The day is almost here and I am very anxious. I am desperately anticipating holding you in my arms with your trusting eyes examining my face. I want your tiny hands clasped around my fingers. I want to see your father's face as he gazes upon you for the first time and also his reaction to your first diaper. :) I can't wait to hear your fragile cry as you take your first breath of air. I also want to be the one to comfort you in this new and scary world.
Alexis I want you to know that you have always and will always be loved by your parents. We will be here to comfort you and to guide. We will give you strength when you are feeling weak. We will be your biggest fans when you succeed. We will acknowledge your efforts to be the best that you can be. We will be there when you are frightened. We will be there to kiss you better when you fall down and get hurt. We will love you forever unconditionally.
You also will have wonderful grandparents. They have been awaiting your birth for longer than you will know. They will teach you things that your parents may not know. They will spoil you until you are rotten!! They too will love you unconditionally.
Your aunts and uncle are so excited to meet you. Your aunt Stephanie has already offered to baby sit so we will hold her to that! :) Cheyenne can not wait to have another girl in the family. Julie is a little worried because grandpa told her that she will not be the spoiled one anymore. :) Jeremy has been so sweet to your mama while she's been pregnant. He has banned her from bowling and going to Junior Prom with him and Lisa. (Scott and Stephanie will be taking them!) Ben just got home from him mission and I am certain that he is excited to be an uncle. Jesse and Mitch are also excited. All of them will love you!!
How did you get your name?? Mommy wanted to name you Kylianne Elizabeth. Daddy said he wanted a more common name. So then we decided to name you Audrey Nichole. But mommy didn't think that she liked the name Audrey as much as she thought she did. So mommy pulled out a baby name book and wrote down all of the names that she liked. Mommy gave the list to daddy and said, "pick a name." He chose the name Alexis. Mommy was happy that was one of her favorites! Then came picking the middle name.. (daddy didn't want a middle name but mommy did!!!) So mommy thought and prayed and she felt that Danielle would be perfect. It flowed well and it is after your mom's uncle Danny (Daniel) who won't be able to have children. So that is how you were named Alexis Danielle!
I love you very much and will write again!
Love, Mommy
